Location: Warwickshire | Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 depending on experience | Full-time

Join a pioneering Electromobility and Power Systems team developing cutting-edge software for electric and hybrid vehicle technologies across both civilian and defence applications.
We’re looking for experienced Software Engineers to lead the development of embedded software for Electric Vehicle Control Units (EVCUs), supporting the full lifecycle from requirements capture through to validation and delivery.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of sustainable mobility within a high-impact engineering environment. Positions are available at both Senior and Principal levels depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities
•    Develop embedded control software using Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow and C, focusing on xEV (electric and hybrid) platforms.
•    Design software architecture and implement safety-critical systems compliant with ISO 26262.
•    Lead and support requirements definition, implementation, and testing of control strategies.
•    Conduct integration and testing on prototype vehicles and HIL rigs.
•    Provide mentorship to junior team members and technical guidance across projects.
•    Produce and review technical documentation to a high professional standard.
•    Participate in Verification and Validation (V&V) activities.
•    Support cross-functional teams and contribute to project delivery in both on-highway and off-highway contexts.

Ideal Candidate Profile
Essential Skills & Experience
•    Strong expertise in Model-Based Development (MBD).
•    Proficient in Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow, Embedded Coder, C, and Python.
•    Hands-on experience with MIL/SIL, dSPACE HIL, and Vector tools.
•    Solid understanding of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet).
•    Experience working with ISO 26262 Part 6 and delivering production-quality software.
•    Ability to work across the full software V-cycle and contribute to software requirement development.
Desirable Experience
•    Familiarity with non-road machinery standards (e.g. ISO 13849).
•    Knowledge of AUTOSAR, A-SPICE, and zonal architectures.
•    Understanding of Fuel Cell, thermal control systems, and electrical/electronic systems.
•    Exposure to defence sector software standards and security clearance eligibility.
•    Previous technical leadership or project team lead experience.
Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant engineering discipline.
•    Higher degree (MSc, EngD, or PhD) preferred.

•    Strong communication and documentation skills are essential.
•    Must be self-motivated, analytical, and capable of working under pressure.
•    Open to UK travel and short international assignments (2–3 trips per year).
•    Full UK driving license required.
•    Must be eligible to work in the UK and obtain security clearance.
